Summer Solstice
The June solstice: the Sun reaches its farthest north and the day is longest in the northern hemisphere. In the Panchang the Sun turns south (Dakshinayana) only at Karka Sankranti, about three weeks later, because the sidereal zodiac has moved with the precession of the equinoxes.
